Sir Aeren Stiege, Paladin of Death

Aeren was a 6'2" tall, gaunt individual who wore black plate mail with a white surcoat, painted with only a black circle - representing his goddess, the Hooded Mistress, Death herself. Aeren was partial to wielding a scythe in combat, although once Death presented him with a bastard sword designed for his personal use called Crusader, he was rarely parted from the blade.
The paladin made himself unpopular, as one might expect, by his attitude towards life and death, although not for the reasons you might expect. Aeren knew that all things had their time to die, and that they only lived as long as they did by his mistress's will - only by her leave might the dead be resurrected or the soul of one be present in another... it was this latter matter which caused friction within the group as both Taloreth and Barnabus had non-conforming souls. This gave him a reputation for being belligerent and interfering.
Aeren's first and only devotion is to his goddess - he acts only at her behest, and serves her in life with the sure and certain knowledge that in death he may serve her yet more closely. The period of about twenty years between when meetings with the party was tough on him; his beloved steed died and he continued to roam the world, serving his goddess as she saw fit. He became very tough (110 hp!) but lost a little of his physical strength. By the time he re-met Tal and Zane, he was almost fifty and still going strong.
He joined the quest to Dragon Mountain at the age of 47, when the party found him hidden beneath a pile of corpses, and his seeming invulnerability served them well as they fought their way through the mountain. He even made friends with a kobold called Dink, and this time not everyone in the party thought he was an interfering bugger. Ultimately he swung his final blow against Infyrana, the dragon of the Mountain, and went to serve his Mistress in the ultimate promotion.

Akima van Hausen

Akima is a beautiful young girl with a hint of Elven heritage in her features. She was raised in an inn and is proud of her barmaid background, even though the path she has chosen for her life is that of a wizard - perhaps as far from being a barmaid as you can get! She has long, coppery hair and blue eyes and wears long dresses which reveal her impressive and barmaidy cleavage. She also bears a staff, as a nod to her wizardiness.
She entered the Academy after her family and their inn were razed to the ground and she decided to take up the spellbook. There she made many friends and works in the Adventurers Return to supplement her funds and to remind her of her past (perhaps). Having made a bit of a play for her tutor, Delphinius, she managed to get together with him, much to the chagrin of her fellow students. Although she was not very powerful, Gomez sent her to Lydia to train, and while there Akima died when a banshee screamed at her. Weakened by the experience, she has returned to the Academy for some TLC from her lover.

Alyia Brown

Alyia, or Alula as she is also known, is a beautiful blue-skinned young woman, with long silvery blonde hair and ocean blue eyes. She is only 15 years of age but in those few short years she has suffered a great deal. Her mother was from Rankorr while her father's face and race are unknown to her, but certainly aquatic. She was raised in a temple and her mother visited her often, but when the temple was attacked and she was taken into slavery, her mother was not there to save her.
As a slave she was eventually trained as a gladiator - to fight in the arenas for the pleasure of the masses, but the young girl proved to have a dangerous amount of skill and a knack for bloody violence that bordered on terrifying. However, she was released from enslavement by the Marquis of Elstock, who bought her as his slave and then freed her into the arms of the Academy (for Adventurers). There her training would take a different colour - she was to be readjusted to interacting with normal society, so that she would stop thinking as a slave bred for violence and start thinking as Alyia.
A month into the program, Beltar requested that she accompany the party to Dragon Mountain, where her sword skills proved to be very useful indeed. During the adventure, she found romance in the arms of Marcus Hal'Baird, and afterwards the two went off in search of Alyia's mother in Rankorr. However, her joy was short-lived as both she and her mother were accused of kidnapping the Czar of Lanixa's only son. After a tense trial, they were both released.
Since then she has been with the Girls party.

Barnabus and Izzabella Scoropco

For a long time, Barnabus and Izzabella were twins - brother and sister - who inhabited the same body but have different appearances. Barnabus is 5'9" with short sandy brown hair and purple eyes with a blue-tint to the white part. He is a mage by profession and likes to wear either the clothes appropriate to that vocation, or normal clothing. Izzabella, on the other hand, is the same height but has long red-brown hair and very blue eyes. They both look in their early twenties, although there is an elven maturity about them, belying their apparent age.
Their existence is something of a mystery to scholars, but nothing of a mystery to them: they came into being when their pregnant mother, near to giving birth, was caught up in a surge of malignant wild magic that killed both the parents and produced a single child with the consciousness and bodies of two different people. They are brother and sister - one and yet two. Barnabus is a mage but Izzabella is a spellfirest - an antimage - one who is born with an innate resistance to magic and an ability to absorb and wield it.
They are different in personality: Barnabus is quiet and studious; intelligent but not vocal with it. Izzabella, however, is a bit of a wild child, loving attention and fun. One of the things they do have in common is their love for the same woman, an elf named Calithralia, whom they were forced to leave in their past when her family commitments overcame her. They hope one day to find her again, however, and have a daughter with her already.
Barnabus joined the party in Vortis City, where they competed in the Trial of Champions and won, although it was some time before they found out about Izzabella's existence. The pair were instrumental in the death of Inisrya and her companions, and afterwards returned to Dervish Town to establish the Academy with Gomez, Tal and Zane.
Over the next 17 years, the duo worked on a number of magical items, mostly for personal use, and also sought their one true love - a female elf called Calithralia. Barnabus established the Department of Magic at the Academy while Izzabella lived a more mundane-seeming life and was not a familiar face around the establishment. Barnabus had a son with Calithralia, whom he called Matthew, and who was later kidnapped by Austell.
Recently, while in the dungeon that surrounded Tazeel, Izzabella drew in more magic than she could handle, and was engulfed in incandescence. When the light faded, Barnabus was alone in the body, and Izzabella was gone.

Dalbarwan Smallone & Zetotha

Dal is a young rock gnome at 81, with tanned skin, long white hair and unusually dark blue eyes. Naturally she is of small stature, standing 3'7" on a good day, but she is a hardy young woman who can quickly put paid to any thoughts of weakness on her part. She is usually seen wearing her leather armour, covered by a patchwork cloak of her own devising and riding her beloved wolf, Furball. She was moved to adventuring by sheer curiosity and by her very nature - she loves things and enjoys accumulating wealth, by trade, combat, theft or otherwise. Her favourite things of all are gems, and she will go out of her way to gather them.
She joined the group by virtue of knowing Sarah. The two travelled and adventured together for a time, drawn together by the symbols of the gods burnt into her hands. Sarah hoped to explain them and Dal hoped to hear that explanation. When the call came to go to Dragon Mountain, it was felt that Dal's very presence would be significant, and so she went to get more wealth and because she was asked. Although she met a great deal of friction with the party - who were mostly uninterested in the accumulation of wealth and looked down upon her - she was very useful to them, having many key and critical suggestions and being willing to stand at the front and bear the brunt of virtually every trap the Mountain had.
Afterwards, Dal retired to live with her gnomish fellows in the north, near the mountains, where she intended to write the book of the adventure. However, halfway through the story, she was kidnapped by men in black, who killed her beloved Furball. For a long time she was missing, but at last she was rescued from a sorceror called Crane, where it was revealed that she had once had the soul of The'tani inside her, but in fear for her, the soul had fled, and to protect her a tanar'ri called Zetotha had taken The'tani's place. She promised to remain in control of Dal's body until Dal's mind was sufficiently recoverd from the torment of torture and the cocktail of drugs shot through her system. Currently, Zetotha is travelling the world with Tristan at her side, seeing all the sights.

Queen Frayer Hal'baird of Epratium

Frayer was the only child of the Hal'Baird family - blacksmiths who lived in the town of Craje. Frayer had always wanted to be an adventurer, so she joined the party on their return from Chunn. She was a valuable member of the group, bringing both her sword skill and her ability to amaze and confound. Like once she decided to try wielding two longswords at the same time whilst on her horse... this resulted in a bit of ear-chopping for the poor horse and much amusement for the group. She also was a bit picky with her men, allowing them to be with her but only on her terms.
She liked to wear chainmail over black leather (in retrospect she resembled Xena quite accurately) and she had long black hair. She brought a certain hard justice and sanity with her to the group, and was very instrumental in the death of Cimosco, striking the killing blow, to be precise. Afterwards she returned to her home town of Craje, but even that was not peaceful. She and Kaer had a little... liaison, that resulted in a pregnancy, but Frayer also shacked up with a young lord by the name of Corman Melthiss, but his intentions were not exactly honourable. As a result of his visit to Craje, the town was attacked by an army, led by the daemon Inisrya. Frayer and her family escaped in time, but our heroine was determined to exact revenge for the havoc wreaked. She hooked up with Sarah, Sisski and Angor and they chased the army across the continent, picking up Morwen along the way, but ultimately Frayer became too heavily pregnant and was forced to return home to have her baby.
The child was a son, whom she named Marcus, but it took her some time to break the news to Kaer about the boy. Frayer was never one to rest for long, so while she raised her son, she worked with the town guard and at her father's forge. Once she and Kaer had established how Marcus was to be brought up (i.e. 50/50 elf and human teaching), she settled into a good routine. Marcus would travel to see his father via a portal that Kaer bought and so there was a great deal of freedom in the arrangement.
Although for a while it seemed that Frayer would get it together with Kaer, it never quite happened as Kaer (who was now an Elven Lord) would suffer politically from a marriage to a human. Still, Frayer loved him and they were good friends. Frayer's life took a big leap to new dimensions when the Sorcerer King, Platir, came to her village to congratulate her on her third successful defence of the town. He offered her a post with the guard at the palace. Frayer accepted and she and Marcus moved to Chunn, the capital city of Epratium. Both her parents had died by this stage and there was nothing to tie them to Craje.
In Chunn Frayer worked her forge and the routine with Marcus and Kaer continued as normal, but Frayer did work with the guard and eventually worked her way up to Captain of the Guard and then Personal Bodyguard to the Sorcerer King. Oddly, though, it seems that Platir had fallen for our heroine and after a couple of years of dating, the two were wed. At the age of 43, Frayer has recently had her second child - a son named Ral-Partha.

David Gomez

If you asked Gomez about himself, he probably would have told you that Gomez is green. This is because he is. He stands just about 5' tall if he doesn't stoop, and dresses a little like a war correspondent, but without shoes. He loved the quarterstaff that belonged to his father, and when Corman took it out of his hands and Inisrya sent him hurtling across the world, a chain of events started that were like the irresistible force of myth.
Gomez's mother was human, and his real father was a tasloi. Not that Gomez knew that last part until he was nearly thirty, but there you have it. Many people mistook him for a half-goblin or similar, and such accusations would send him into fits of rage. He was a coward, but a coward with astonishing mental powers that gave him a certain survivability. People hated him and feared him - this prejudice was something he grew up with and found hard to deal with. He lived with his mother until she died, when he was 17, and then he left home, determined to take some revenge on the green-skins that had made his life hard. He had some cunning plans for exacting this revenge, and during one of his excursions he met our friends Corman and Inisrya.
Gomez found working with the party hard, especially since they had a habit of leaving him to be a spokesperson and organiser for the group. His years as an outcast had left him mentally scarred - paranoid and with a tendency to voice his every thought in a constant muttering. Still, his determination to get his father's staff back (it actually belonged to his mother's husband) took him aboard the Ship that Sails on Land and Sea and across the world to the Halfling Dales. There he faced down fear, died at the hands of the daemon and was resurrected by the gods, before taking his laser gun to Quistin's chest, thus ending his former friend (Gomez and Quistin never got along anyway).
During the Trial of Champions, he met a gorgeous lady called And-the-Wind-Bespoke-Peace (Peace), to whose affections he abandoned his proverbial cherry. Upon returning from the final conflict, she revealed that she was pregnant, and the two of them moved to Dervish Town, where they were wed. Their first child was a son, whom they named Adam-Born-of-Peace (in the traditional naming style of Peace's people), but tragically, Adam (now 18) was the price due for the hire of the Ship that Sails on Land and Sea. Much wrangling with the Earth Elementals managed to arrange a deal whereby Adam would stay with his parents for a few days every month and would be trained by the Earth Elementals the rest of the time. It wasn't ideal, but it was the best they could do.
Gomez set about the Academy with fervour, assisted by Barnabus and Tal mostly. They did a great deal of work to the old temple and the underground complex, adding rooms, redecorating, rebuilding in places and adding outbuildings and temples. Gomez also arranged for the god Mervis to sponsor the Academy and become the god of psionicists. Meanwhile he and Peace had a further 7 children: Joy-Spoken-Softly, Melody-of-Peace, Bailey, Heather, Sky, Castor and Pollux (aged 17, 15, 14, 12, 10, 5 and 5). The two have been very busy all these years and have built quite a life for themselves in and around the Academy. Gomez has gained some strength to his personality, although he is paranoid he is much less of a coward. He loves his family more than anything and will do nothing to bring them harm, which can sometimes be mistaken for cowardice.
Recently, though, times have been hard for Gomez. When the Inquisition brought down the Thieves' Guild, Joy was killed, and although she was raised, it wasn't long before she, her daughter Tranquility, and pregnant mother were kidnapped by Austell and Gethirah. Gomez has been trying to save the world, but finally concluded that he first had to take care of his remaining family, and so he has temporarily taken a break from adventuring, to set other things in motion.

Isarc

Isarc is the youngest member if the party, at about 2 years old. He's not human, although most of the time he appears as such - he is, in fact, a golem created by Seren and given sentience, in order to record and process the events of the world. As a result, he is very nondescript to look at, but perfect, as Seren was a master golemsmith. He joined the party after he encountered the Knights of the Alliance, who brought them together.

Jason Elendil, Lord of Elstock and Principal Lord of Lanixa

Jason is a half-drow: the result of a drow raping his mother during a raid. Somehow she survived the attack - probably due to her mage skills and her Dwarven friends. Either way, when her baby was born, she named him after a family friend and tried to raise him as normally as possible, but he was always an outcast. His home was close to the mountains and so he made a great deal of friends among the Dwarves there, but although his mother taught him magic, he had light fingers and enjoyed stealing because he didn't have to meet people.
Physically, Jason is 5'7", with a slim build and good looks. His skin and hair are grey, but his eyes are bright green, with other colours and shades through them. He was captured by the Drow and enslaved in their mines, but when the raiding party to the crashed space ship were slain by the party, Jason was freed. He had a vein of goodness and loyalty running through him, although he enjoyed being sneaky and crafty. Certainly his enemies had a great deal to fear from the half-drow.
His journey with the party on the Ship was not without its events, as he was kidnapped by Austell, the High Priest of Lucifer and interrogated. Fortunately, Austell had not yet warmed fully to the torture when Jason escaped. Still, Jason had to be convinced not to kill the priest when they met him again at the entrance to the Seal.
After the final fight, Jason decided to settle down in Vortis City where there were rich pickings and a Thieves' guild that he could work away at. He was ambitious, and this was reflected in his choice of bride - none other than Mai Stoltz, daughter of Lord Heinrich Stoltz, most influential nobleman in Lanixa at the time. Jason had helped them, and had very radical ideas about women and equality in marriage. Mai accepted and her father allowed it (he does have about 11 daughters after all), and so they were married in the Temple of Iaphre in Vortis City, by Morwen Gallandor no less.
Life as a non-adventurer is very different for Jason. He and his wife preferred city life, so once they had sorted out their house and the farmlands they owned, they made a move back to Vortis. Mai got involved in politics, first at a local level and then on a more national scale. This was her passion, and Jason supported her in it, deliberately taking a back seat to allow her the room to manoeuvre. She took on the roles he should have done, leaving him to develop a very profitable legitimate business trading in magical spell components, spells and magic items before expanding into the security market. He also took the chance to work his way into, up and through the Thieves' Guild, making friends at the top and becoming very influential indeed. However, with his role of Principal Lord it seemed best to leave the running of the Thieves Guild to others, especially when the Inquisition decided to take it part brick by brick. Later, Jason went with the others to investigate the 3rd Seal, but when Gethirah kidnapped his son, he agreed to stay out of Gethirah's business in return for his son, and now plays as strong a role as he can, being Principal Lord of the land, while keeping himself out of trouble with his enemies.
Jason and Mai aren't a perfect couple, but he tries to support her as best he can, while being secretive about his doings - this has led to trouble between them before. Perhaps the fact that Mai is 33 and her husband looks 18 is a contributing factor, though. They have three children - two daughters called Reddandril (11) and Furore (7) and also an 8-month old son called Jacob Heinrich.

Gau'breven Alcaerathil El'tarrieth (Kaer)

Kaer is an albino elf with a mysterious past, who went on to take the role of one of the Elven Council of Three. He was ever a quiet elf who spent most of his time studying his spellbook and scribbling notes in his note book. Everyone seemed to like him, and he was very good friends with Morwen and Karl especially. He liked to wear chainmail with green clothes over the top and wield a longsword and shield with skill.
His habit of saying very little tended to draw him into the background, but he was always there to lend a hand. Except for that time he got kidnapped by orcs, of course... He, too, was instrumental in the death of Cimosco (better known as Chinny-moscow), as it was him and Morwen who managed to pinpoint the mage for Frayer. However, his most famous talent was for soaking up damage and being the first to fall in combat. He actually died on Cimosco's Island as he slipped off a ladder and fell into a river of boiling mud but Karl rescued him and used the ring of resurrection to raise him again.
After the party went their separate ways, Kaer returned to rule his people, but slept with Frayer on his way home... this would prove to be a very testing matter for him. For a while after he was raised to his role as Gau'breven (high warlock) he was able to conduct his work without having to engage with his people on a personal level. They accepted him, and although some regarded him with distaste they were silent. As soon as he found out about Marcus, his life was turned upside down. He realised that he had to be open and honest about his son and about his relationship with Frayer, or the people would never understand and could potentially remove him from office. He thought the hardest part would be convincing the other two warlocks (Eren and Bonalas) that he was still a capable politician, but the hardest thing to deal with were the people, who accused him of being a human-lover and having interests above those of his people. This was the main reason he never entered into a relationship with Frayer, regardless of his own feelings on the matter.
He tried to shelter young Marcus from the worst of this, which usually occurred in the Council rooms when he was governing a session. The whole matter was wielded as a weapon against him whenever people didn't get their way, but it made him stronger in many ways. Life wasn't always that tough, anyway. He did a great deal of travelling and became the primary ambassador to the humans. He liked to think that his professional conduct of the matter made people respect him more - it was his main hope when he revealed it, that they would realise he would never lie to the people. This is probably not the case, however.
His life is a busy one, with meetings and planning sessions as well as time set aside to train his mind and his body. He used this extra time to train Marcus (or rather, to have him trained) in the martial skills and arts he would need to become the mighty warrior he seemed destined to become. Kaer is very proud of his son, and not afraid to say it. He often seems to put his job before all else, sacrificing a great deal for it, but he loves his work and throws himself into it whole-heartedly.
When Sarah returned from the dead, she started to visit Kaer a great deal and they became close friends, although she had a tendency to disappear into warzones for years at a time. However, when Marcus was fully-grown, and with Frayer married to Platir, Kaer and Sarah finally admitted that they were in love and got married (about a year before Dragon Mountain). He joined the quest to Dragon Mountain because he thought he was needed, and because he wanted to do one more adventure... he is still a young man at heart (being only 82) and likes the excitement. He loves his family and friends dearly and would do anything for them, valuing them above all else.
With the increasing threat from the undead, it was decided that Amir'Shaan would provide aid to the beleagured armies of Sepria and Rapata, preferably led by one of the warlocks. Kaer, being the youngest and considered partially responsible for the war, was nominated and so currently he is fighting against undead.

Lydia Marr

Lydia is a tall attractive young human woman, with blonde hair and light brown eyes. She is a bard by profession, and plays, sings, dances and shags with amazing skill. She encountered the party because she had followed the exploits of the party that sailed on the Ship That Sails on Land and Sea, and had begun to realise the enormity of the tale she was uncovering. She pledged her aid, and has been nothing if not stalwart and courageous. Despite the incredible difficulty of the tasks before her, she has not balked, even though she has died four times and been petrified once in the space of a few weeks. She is currently dating Plath.

Marcus Grendall

Marcus arrived with Sir Kheldar, but managed to stay alive through the whole spaceship ordeal, eventually returning to his native Jandarr after emerging from the drow caverns. He is 5'9", broad built, with sandy hair and blue eyes. He likes to wear wizardly robes and carries a battleaxe slung over his back, as he is something of a battle-mage, the cream of the Jandarren wizards. He was an odd character, being free with his magic at all opportunities, unlike many mages who eke it out through the course of a day and never 'waste' a spell. Marcus loved magic and would have had his typical contemporaries wetting themselves with horror. He was very patriotic, loving his country, his people and his magic.
The party encountered Marcus again on their way to Dragon Mountain and he joined them as their goals were the same. However, since he had last seen the party, the Dwarven nation (Dwan-dur) to which Morwen belonged had smashed through his beloved Jandarr, collapsing the Empire, killing the King and destroying the School of Magic. Marcus was devastated and harboured a deep hatred of Dwarves. When confronted about this, he admitted it, and that he felt that Morwen should suffer as a representative of her people. Morwen tried to diffuse the situation by explaining it from the Dwarves perspective (see History and Morwen for details) but her personal involvement in the crisis only made him more angry and eventually he was driven from the party and told never to return (I call this the Curse of Quistin - that no conniving mage will ever get away with it again). He did intend to kill Morwen but his chance never came.
Since Dragon Mountain, rumours have begun to circulate that Marcus is mad, culminating in his apprehension by some adventurers, who placed him the a lunatic asylum in Agatan. The girls party went to investigate, and managed to ascertain that the cause was something linked to the Dream Realm, but were unable to help him.

Marcus Hal'Baird (Angur-El'dan)

Marcus is the son of Frayer and Kaer, and has inherited his parents' good looks, morals and strength. He is a gentleman, raised to be the son of an influential politician. His childhood was filled with important figures and significant events - even in his teens when he was able to choose his own way, he had the choice of his father's Elven court or that of his powerful step-father, the Sorcerer King of Epratium.
He is a large young man, with super-human strength powering his half-elven frame. He has light brown hair, blue eyes and handsome features. Although he does wield a longsword with great skill, he is also a surprising mage, using the magic most often to supplement and complement his considerable sword skill. Few stand in the path of Marcus' sword for long.
During the adventure to Dragon Mountain, Marcus was killed by Lord Cavius as he engaged him in melee combat - but upon resurrection he was not deterred and was instrumental until the very end of the adventure, learning some new skills and tricks along the way. He also began a relationship with Alyia, although no one but them knows whether it is something serious or just something new... still, he went to Rankorr with her, halfway across the world, in order to find her mother once the adventure was over. When they returned, their relationship fizzled, and Marcus was sent on 'diplomatic training', whatever that is...

Morwen Gallandor, High Warpriestess of Iaphre

Take it away, Dark Jedi:
Physical Description: Morwen has thick black hair reaching a little below her neck, and clear grey eyes. She has, of course, no beard. Reasonably attractive, at least by dwarven standards, she stands almost exactly four feet tall and has a strong build, earned through long hours of physical training during her novitiate for the priesthood.
Personality: Compared to most dwarves, Morwen is positively garrulous and willing to get along with just about anyone and anything. She is generally cheerful but has a tendency to become pessimistic in the worst situations. Morwen's upbringing has made her fully at home in combat situations but a little innocent in the ways of men and women, which tends to make her the butt of several innuendous jokes amongst the other party members which she generally fails to notice for what they are.
Brief Background: The Gallandors (in Dwarven, "First Hammer") are a respected and well-established mining family, but Morwen knew from an early age that she wanted to join the relatively new order of Iaphre, a goddess of warcraft. Finally persuading her parents to let her attempt to enter the order, she passed the tests and became initiated. Soon after she reached the rank of full priestess, she was sent into the outside world, ostensibly to survey the surrounding human lands and attempt to make contact with the other priestesses of the order in distant dwarven colonies. It was during this trip that she met the other members of the party.
Hobbies: Devoted to her goddess, Morwen has had little time to take up hobbies in her fairly short lifetime. She does enjoy cooking, and physical contests of the type in which the novices used to compete. During her time with the party Morwen has also taken it upon herself to begin learning both to write in Commen and to speak Elvish.
Now my bit:
Morwen joined the party as an innocent young dwarf with a few years as a novice cleric of Iaphre, goddess of warcraft and female arts, but by the time she left she was something of a sensation among the Dwarven female population. Although from humble beginnings - a traditional mining family - she eschewed the possibility of treading the traditional path of the Dwarven woman to train as a priestess. Within the party she was both loved and respected, being their much-needed healer and a strong spear-arm in a fight. She was kind but firm and got on with everyone one way or the other. As you might expect, she was stubborn and loyal and held a grudge well, but level-headed and sober at the same time.
She wore a bronze aegis (breastplate & greaves with leather trousers and a leather spartan-style skirt), with a red cloak. She preferred to wield a spear and was very possessive of it. Her favourite spell was flame spear and she used it at every viable possibility. She was regularly the butt of jokes involving intimate male-female relationships as her devotion to a chaste priesthood and her youth (she was but 50 years old) meant that she really wasn't that clued up on that aspect of life.
She also had a strange tendency to accuse everyone she met on the road that couldn't make proper account of themselves of being Cimosco. After killing Cimosco, she returned home to discover the fate of her family, who were caught in the terrible earthquake that ripped through the Darkrift Mountains. As it happened, both of her parents had been killed and her brother was missing, presumed dead, while her last surviving uncle had become a troll slayer to hide his bereavement. Despite this, Morwen joined forces with Frayer, Sarah, Sisski and Angor when they came knocking. She had been given a quest by Iaphre - a task laid in her young lap and her lap alone. She was the one who had to go to the Mountain and investigate it, find out what had happened and report back to the gods. She was given information few people knew and told to tell others only when necessary.
She performed her task well, and the gods were pleased, but Iaphre would not allow her to continue adventuring - now was the time for her training, to learn and take stock of what she had learnt. She was sad to leave her friends to the quest she felt was hers, but duty called and there was a lot of work to be done before the Dwarves would stop their petty Civil War and once again live peacefully. Morwen was a key lynchpin because Orin Bloodaxe, hereditary hair to the leadership, was in love with her.
As it turned out, Morwen's return to her people was very instrumental. Her friendship with Orin was key to success. For full details, see the History, but this is the brief version. The Dwarves were in Civil War and their leader, Thax, had been murdered by his own guards. His son and hereditary heir, Orin, was ready to take his place, but in order to do so he had to be approved by the Council of Families - but they refused to convene. Then stepped in two other potential leaders - a charismatic Dwarf from the lower levels called Bren, and Morgrim, who claimed to be directly descended from the Dawin, the first dwarf ever. This was a problem. The other problem was that Thax had passed an edict before he died, stating that until the war was resolved, no persons other than Dwarves would be allowed to enter the cities and settlements of the dwarves. Only the Council could revoke this and... they refused to convene. Morwen, under instruction from Iaphre, got to know Orin and as time went by the various priesthoods united in an effort to get Morgrim and Orin talking not arguing. Bren was killed and there was a further problem in the form of some terrorists calling themselves the Lifetimers, who deliberately sabotaged the proceedings a lot. Still, through Morwen, the Dwarves established a new Council, who eventually elected BOTH Orin and Morgrim to be joint leader. This would be good because Orin was very radical and Morgrim very traditional.
Slowly things returned to normal, but Lifetimer activity continued and it was a while before people noticed that the activity only sparked up when there was the possibility of the dwarves joining in the Jandarr-Sepria conflict, on the side of the Seprian allies. Morwen was put on a council to investigate the matter and their findings led them back to the Jandarr Empire, who it seemed were funding the terrorist group to keep the Dwarves out of the war. Naturally the Dwarves went mad and invaded the country, which resulted in the collapse of the Empire and the death of their King, Hena.
Morwen was promoted after all her hard work to the unique title and position of High Warpriestess, and allowed to establish her own temple elsewhere. So she has set up a secret army in a secret location and is keeping her eyes peeled for any activity that might relate to the Five gods sealed in Hell. She went to Dragon Mountain at her goddess'suggestion, and then left again at her request. Since then she has been keeping an eye on the political situations of the world, and has been helping negotiate with Jandarr to get them fighting against the Undead army, although it's been harder than you might imagine.
Morwen's retirement came as a result of Dark Jedi's death, but although Morwen has become an NPC now, I don't feel I will ever do her justice (which is a shame because I had really big plans for her). She is one of my all-time favourite characters, and I am very sad to see her retired to my care. But you haven't seen the end of this Dwarf, no sir...

Nori Ironclaw

Nori is a half-dwarf ranger who has worked with Morwen for the past two decades, as a guide and advisor. He's a cheery little chap, with simple tastes and opinions, although he's not simple in the head. He was recruited into the adventuring party as a mountaineer, but his skill with tracking has proven more effective, and as such he earned himself a position as a mainstay in the guys group. His worst moment was sneaking around a temple of Lolth, polymorphed into a spider, on his 53rd birthday, trying to keep an avatar of Lolth from being summoned. That said, he wasn't too keen on dying in the mindflayer prison!

Plathyn Verreken, the Crusader, Patriarch of Betram

Plath first encountered the party when the had just formed, and were on their way to Chunn, 22 years ago. Since then he met them sporadically, and spent several years fighting alongside Sarah in Shaani'del, against the orcs and goblins trying to tear the land apart. Sarah asked him to investigate the events that led to the Cataclysm, and slowly he became embroiled in the wider events of the world, eventually joining the so-called Girls party as the token male. He is hardy and grim, seeing things in a simple black and white that others rarely have the luxury of; sometimes he is mistaken for a paladin, so strong are his convictions. He gained the epithet the Crusader because he has been in the church of Betram for nearly 50 years and always eschewed progression through the ranks in favour of battle and action.
Plath is a half-elf, 5'9", with short dark hair and green eyes. He is of broad build and looks about 25 (although he's 95). He is currently dating Lydia.

Imai'ne Sarah El'tarrieth

Sarah was Karl's gorgeous younger sister: a slim but curvy half-elf, with collar length dark brown hair, light blue eyes and usually wearing a short black coat (just past her bottom). She always looked more like her mother than her father and was so much like a full elf that even elves were fooled sometimes. She left home after she buried her brother, who was the last member of her immediate family. The two were close friends and he had written to her while travelling, telling her all about his adventures and his friends. He had told her that if he ever died, she should seek out his friends, to meet them and to let them know the sad news if they didn't already. Her travels took her to Frayer via Kaer, where she got caught up in the quest to destroy Inisrya, and investigate StormTop. Sadly, the mountain was to be her downfall, bringing death to her in the form of a crazed aurumvorax that tore her into ribbons in front of the horrified party.
However, she would not remain dead for long. Sisski had a word with Beltar about getting her friend resurrected, and so she was, and removed from the spaceship before the reactor meltdown. Then she and Beltar dug their way out, rescued Sisski from the Drow and headed for the surface. She returned to her homeland of Amir'Shaan, where she stayed for a while, getting used to being alive.
Sarah went on a long journey, retracing her steps with the party that had led to her death. She visited everyone she could and even dug up her own grave to get some of her equipment back. When she returned home, a much wiser and maturer Sarah, she decided to do something with her life in the world, and so dedicated the next decade or so to fighting in wars. She fought alongside Seth and Adrian in their distant war against Darkness on the Mystic Isles, acting as more of a messenger and standard bearer than anything else. Then she turned her attentions to the devastated halfling lands, where she joined forces with Plath, the cleric of Betram, to fight the goblins and their orc allies. This was a long, bitter conflict, but through it she met Dalbarwan and made her name (although her deeds were known, rather than her name).
However, throughout this Sarah also had a private life. She was a regular visitor in Alcan and hence saw a great deal of Kaer, Frayer and little Marcus, being a close family friend and aunt to the boy. Recently, though, she married Kaer in a simple ceremony near her home village, but her sense of adventure is still strong and perhaps that is the reason she joined the quest to Dragon Mountain. Sarah is one of Beltar's Watchers and thus takes the fate of the world as a rather personal burden. She actually died again during the quest, but it shows how great her resolve and determination is that she continued on, although she didn't actually do the dungeon itself in the end due to a rather pressing matter with a host of undead about to invade the area.
Since then she has thrown herself into adventuring somewhat more than before, determined to prevent the war before it happens. Sarah has a rather strong personality and little fear. She is aware of her good looks and not afraid to use them, which can be quite a dangerous weapon at times. She is more practical than her brother and in many ways a quicker learner. She is pretty sharp and on the ball, although she independent and forceful. Unlike her brother, Sarah was a warrior as well as a sneak, and specialised in martial arts, which her brother's adventuring funds had paid for.

Sesswe

Sesswe is an elven cat, the daughter of Sisski, charged with continuing her elderly mother's watching tasks. She accompanied the party as they ventured to Dragon Mountain, but realised the whole thing was not for her, that dungeon crawling is no place for a cat, however talented she may be. She is very like her mother, but has the advantage of knowing the lessons her mother learnt through trial and error. However, in spite of her feelings about dungeons, she was unable to stay away from adventuring and has thus far accompanied the main party and both Girls and Guys at one point or another. She has a pivotal role in the group, as the main connection to Beltar, and her sixth sense gives the party an advantage when encountering people. She may seem small and powerless, but she has a great deal of courage and determination to get the job done.
Sesswe is the party kitty.

Taloreth Shiar

Born to a human mother who was barmaid in the habit of taking many lovers, Tal grew up as a half-elf among humans, helping out at the inn where his mother worked and being one of the youngest of 14 children. He always felt he was destined for bigger things, though, and when he was old enough decided to try his hand at adventuring. This went well until he and his companions ventured into the mountains where the Drow were known to be... he spent 10 years as a slave in the Underdark before being rescued by the party.
Shortly afterwards, though, he was beheaded by a Drow, but although he was dead, the goddess Destiny saw fit to transfer his conscious self into the body of arkh-Shamier'yv, dislodging the Eleshai's own personality. Tal found this rather hard to deal with, but he coped, and decided to join the quest to kill Inisrya. He made good friends of Jason and Gomez, and was smart but not well educated, dreaming of being a wizard but knowing he never could. He was a tool of the gods and has never had a chance to ask exactly what they want of him, although he knows he has a task to perform before he will die. But does that mean he'll die as soon as he's done it, or he can die anytime afterwards? Answers on a postcard please.
After the final fight, he went to Dervish Town where his consciousness was transferred to the body of a 15-year old girl called Belinda Kleiner. This transition took some getting used to, but he weathered the various storms quite well. He struggled to disentangle himself from Belinda's family (who believe that she knocked her head and simply thinks she's this adventurer) and her fiancée, but time and patience have paid off. He put most of his efforts into building the Academy, and runs its accounts as well as the Department of Combat. He kept in shape and adventured throughout the twenty years since first transferring to Belinda's body, and has even taken a few lovers, although he is aware of how that may be viewed by some. His current partner is a young woman called Zen, who shares his sense of humour.
He went to Dragon Mountain because he thought he would be of some use - an experienced hand - and to keep an eye on Alyia, his newest tutee. Since returning, though, he has taken on the third seal and various nefarious nasties before accepting the position as Serenity's guardian, watching over her on a small demiplane, just the two of them.

Xenthorn

Xenthorn (pronounced Shen-thorn) was a rather crafty lord of the lands near Dragon Mountain. Being a wizard of considerable power, and a man far smarter than his foes, he disguised himself as an advisor to the lord and used an actor to play his part. He became embroiled in the quest for Dragon Mountain when Hewell, the Priest of Mornan (god of Vengeance) decided to use his castle as a staging post in his battle against the party... and as a place to store his Basilisks. Xenthorn was not happy, and struck a deal with the party so everyone got what they wanted, and Hewell got killed.
He then joined the group in order to raid the dragon's hoard, locate any artefacts he could and, with a little luck, get the fabled Amulet of Dragon Warding at the end, too. He was a powerhouse of mystical energy, blasting, flooding and polymorphing his way through the entire dungeon and eventually walking away with his prize.

Zane DuPuis, High Priest of Kalir

Zane is a short young man from the north of Lanixa, and he joined in the port town of Deliam, where he was a young priest in residence at the Temple. The party had decided that they needed a healer in the group, and Zane volunteered when they asked for someone at the temple of Kalir. He was very young but enthusiastic and an amazing healer.
He is 5'6", with thick curly black hair (usually cut short) and stout build. He is noticeably rounder that the others because of his lack of exercise and love of food. In spite of his tendency to eat a great deal, Zane is a lovely person, whose first priority is to tend the sick and injured. He is a capable combatant when necessary, but prefers not to fight when given the choice - which is rare. He was good friends with Tal, Gomez and Jason, although he didn't go to the final conflict because his fear of heights and flying prevented him for boarding the flying carpet. He looked after Peace in Gomez's absence and moved to Dervish with the others, single-handed founding a Temple of Kalir in the town.
He worked with the others on the Academy, although his devotion to his god sometimes took him away from his friends, eventually he earned himself the title and role of High Priest. However, during his adventuring days he managed to walk into a fight with a drake... and limp out again in tatters. His determination to save the rest of his group left him with a severely mangled leg and a permanent limp - an injury that will only heal when his god grants him the power to do it himself.
Zane has also had the fortune to find a wife (Denise) among the local populace, and the two of them have two young daughters called Claudia and Elaine. He joined the quest to Dragon Mountain because the group needed a healer and there are few better in the world than Zane, odd though that seems when Zane is such a small, unassuming sort of fellow. He went on several other adventures following Dragon Mountain, and was with Peace, Joy and Tranquility Gomez when Austell and Gethirah turned up to kidnap. In sheer fury, Zane charged at Gethirah, and the Inquisitor General ran him through, leaving the cleric in a coma for a month or so. His friends freed him, though, and now he is back at the Academy, helping Gomez look after the horde!
